World Wildlife Day at Chitral
On 20 December 2013, at its 68th session,
the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) decided to declare March
3, the day of the approval of the Convention on International Trade in
Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), as World Wildlife
Day, to celebrate and promote awareness of the world’s
wild fauna and flora.
The World Wildlife Day (WWD) was celebrated in Chitral to bring awareness among the masses about the significance and importance of Wildlife. In this regards an awareness raising programme was organized jointly by WWF-Pakistan Chitral and The Mountain Society for Research & Development Chitral. Lectures on Wildlife and associated biodiversity was organized and discussion were also conducted on the significance of Wildlife life. The Target group was selected for the program was the M.Sc. Zoology and Botany students of Shaheed Benazir Butoo University Campus Chitral.
